Q: Tell us a little more about yourself!
Being a founder isn’t easy. It can be lonely and anxiety-inducing. Your inner critic can run wild. You throw self-care and self-compassion out the window.
I know this because I have lived it.
After completing an 8-day trek through the Alps, I launched my second business Renew Retreats in 2019. I led hiking retreats and outdoor education for women in BC and across Canada. I built an incredible community, experienced highs and lows, and never felt prouder - or more critical of myself. I dealt with regular anxiety about what people thought of me and my business.
I quickly realized I wasn’t alone in experiencing this. I spent hours on the trails with women talking about self-compassion, guilt around self-care, and what gets in the way of going after what we want (often fear).
I have had the privilege of supporting thousands of women on their personal growth and wellbeing over the past two years through our group workshops, retreats, and community events.
Q What difficulties did you experience/encounter in your early coaching career?
In 2022, I co-founded She Summits. While I felt better equipped in many ways to handle entrepreneurship, running a business always has a way of bringing stuff up. Dealing with rejection, immense responsibility, and uncertainty, balancing ambition with wellbeing, and remembering to celebrate the wins and manage my own energy so I can show up for others (and keep going).
Q: What specific skills or knowledge can you bring to our community from your experience/background
Now I am excited to be working more one-on-one with women who experience the same things. If this sounds like you, here are some of the things I can help you with…
âž¡ Pushing past fear and doubt so you can make things happen and turn your thoughts into action
âž¡ Dealing with the inner stuff that comes up so you can feel less alone and actually enjoy your work
➡ Bringing more self-care and self-compassion to your journey so you don’t end up burnt out and unable to do what you love.
Q: If you had one pieces of advice for young women/mentees just getting started, what would it be?
Don't be afraid to use your voice and don't doubt that you have value to share! We each bring a unique and valuable experience to our roles.
Q: What would you say has been your greatest accomplishment (or what you’re most proud of) in your career thus far?
I don't think I can nail it down to one greatest accomplishment but launching my first business Renew Retreats is one of my proudest accomplishments. I hosted a party in Vancouver to celebrate the launch and 150+ people showed up, many of them I didn't know. It was truly my first time putting something out into the world that I was so passionate about and in such a public setting. It was absolutely terrifying, but a very gratifying experience to share my vision, watch it come to life, and have people come around me to support it!
Q: Any resources you can share or recommend to our community?
In addition to actively working with coaches, mentors, and advisors, I love reading personal growth and business books and listening to podcasts. Some of my favourite books include You Are A Badass, The Art of Gathering, Hidden Potential, and Radical Candor. Some of my go-to podcasts include The Diary of a CEO, The Dream Bigger Podcast, The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, and Visionary Life.
